Praying for the Next Generation

Across Virginia, students have headed back to school and as the school year gets underway, it serves to remind me to pause and pray for the next generation. I want to say “thank You” to you and your church for your Gospel partnership with the SBCV.  Through your support this year, we have seen over 5,000 students involved in various SBCV ministry opportunities (YEC, Fusion Camps, D’Nows). By God’s grace and power, He can work through His people to impact the next generation now!

Here are some prayer points to consider:

1.     Psalm 22:30–31 — A generation that serves God

Pray that the next generation will know the Lord, serve Him faithfully, and proclaim His righteousness.

2.     Psalm 71:18 — Sharing about God’s work
Pray that parents, leaders, and older believers will faithfully share their testimonies and experiences of God.

3.     Psalm 78:4 — Teaching God’s truth
Pray that we will clearly teach young people about God’s character, mighty works, and faithfulness.

4.     Psalm 90:16–17 — Experiencing God’s presence
Pray that the next generation will personally witness God’s work and experience His favor.

5.     Psalm 102:18 — Future worshippers
Pray that generations yet to come will know, worship, and praise the Lord.

6.     Psalm 103:17–18 — Covenant faithfulness
Pray that children and grandchildren will receive God’s steadfast love and walk obediently in His ways.

7.     Psalm 112:1–2 — A blessed and influential generation
Pray that young people will fear the Lord, delight in His Word, and become a godly influence in their communities.

8.     Psalm 127:3–5 — Protecting and nurturing children
Thank God for children as His gift. Pray for their protection and for wisdom to nurture them well.

9.     Psalm 145:4 — Generational discipleship
Pray for strong relationships between generations so that faith, wisdom, and testimonies of God’s goodness are faithfully passed on.

Closing prayer: Lord, raise up a generation that knows You, loves Your Word, walks in holiness, and boldly declares Your mighty works. Help us faithfully teach, encourage, protect, and pray for them. May they carry Your truth and presence into the future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
