Always Faithful
We are encouraged to express gratitude to God in prayer and to intercede for others. It is also important not to hesitate in asking fellow believers to pray for us. We consider four motivations to pray from this passage.
Firstly, we pray because the Lord is faithful in advancing His Word. We are to pray that "the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored" (2 Thessalonians 3:1).
Secondly, we pray because the Lord is faithful in protecting His people. We can ask for deliverance "from wicked and evil men," trusting that "the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one" (2 Thessalonians 3:2-3).
Thirdly, the Lord is faithful in enabling our obedience. We have confidence in Him "that you are doing and will do the things that we command" (2 Thessalonians 3:4).
Finally, the Lord is faithful in providing us with direction. We pray that "the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ" (2 Thessalonians 3:5). These points underscore that our prayers are founded on God's consistent character and His active involvement in the lives of believers and the advancement of His kingdom.
