Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

This Sunday, January 16 is designated as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.

We pray for and advocate for the sanctity, the value of human life. There should be no question about the value of an unborn, pre-born, newborn lives. I pray for those who counsel women who may have an unplanned pregnancy. Thank you to those who serve and support Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Thank you for ministering and caring for those needing Godly counsel, care, and support.

Psalm 139:13, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.”

As you, your family, and your church continue to keep pressing on in ministry to your neighbors and the nations, I’d like to honor and recognize those who have fostered, adopted, and supported the adoption of children. Through fostering and adopting, Christians honor the sanctity of human life. I’d like to share a story with you as we observe the sanctity of human life this Sunday.

This is an excerpt from a speech one of those children gave after he was an adult, a very famous adult:

“It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out, they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So, my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: “We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?” They said: “Of course.” My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.”[1]

I just shared with you a speech that the late Steve Jobs (Apple, MacBook, iPhone) gave at a Stanford commencement.

Let’s keep pressing on for the sanctity of human life. Let’s keep pressing on as advocates and supporters of adoption. Let’s keep pressing on caring for those who are lost, fearful, and need the Lord. Let’s keep pressing on for righteousness.

Your brother in Christ,
BRIAN AUTRY
