Next Generation Now
“that the next generation might know them (God’s mighty works), the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments… (Psalm 78:6-7).”
This time of year, I can’t help but think about the many ministries taking place in churches to reach the next generation now. No doubt this summer your church has been involved in reaching out and raising up the next generation among us by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. -- churches have provided mission opportunities, service projects, camps, and opportunities like Vacation Bible Schools. My first ministry roles were serving in student ministry, a concept that probably boggles the mind of my own children (yes, I used to be able to stay up for all-night youth lock-ins).
I am thankful the SBCV comes alongside churches to reach the next generation by providing leadership equipping for children and youth leaders, Vacation Bible School training, Student Fusion Mission Camp, Family Fusion, YEC, and more. This Fall we are coming alongside churches to support a Young Adult weekend event.
Just the other week, I was able to join SBCV churches at our Student Fusion Mission Camp in Colonial Heights for one of their worship services after they had served in various ways and places that day across Central Virginia. A highlight video is included for you below!
Thank you for praying and giving through the Cooperative Program (I think of it as “Cooperative Partnership”) and the Vision Virginia State Missions Offering. The SBCV’s mission is to come alongside local churches advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ together to reach our neighbors and the nations – and this includes reaching the next generation!
Please let us know how your SBCV ministry team can pray for you as you lead the next generation to set their hope in God (Psalm 78:6-7). Also, I would love to hear how God is moving in your church to reach the next generation (you can simply reply email to this email).
May the Spirit of God work mightily as you proclaim the Word of God to the next generation!
Your brother in Christ,
BRIAN AUTRY
